Pakistan Kidney Institute’s charges for surgeries and other minor procedures are highly subsidized since these exclude surgeons’, physicians’ and anaesthesiologists’ service charges. Only operating room, bed, surgical/medical supplies are charged (to those who can afford them) at cost price only.
People lack the resources for even simple surgeries, which leads to further complications and worsening of their medical conditions. This complicates matters further by affecting their families financially as well as emotionally.
Latest statistics show an alarming increase in the poverty level, which adversely affects every aspect of life including health. This gives rise to chronic diseases like hypertension. A simple dose of medication can keep these diseases under control. Inconsistent use of medication exacerbates a patient’s condition resulting in stroke, angina, heart disease, gangrene, blindness and kidney failure.
You can help the ailing and deserving members of our community by sponsoring a patient who needs surgery/medication but is unable to afford it.
